Thursday, February 17th, 2011 - Day Two
10:48 am
After an early morning checkup by the pediatrician Leah is in perfect condition to go home. She has only lost 1oz since birth due to the hard life of eating and sleeping. Mom and Dad had some good breakfast this morning while Leah slept in Dads bed. A couple quick showers and some final checkout procedures and we will be on our way back to our home. Ellie will be so excited to see her little sister. Ellie told me yesterday before she left that she wanted to show Leah her room, her toys, her bed, her cat Cooper, her bathtub, her .... what a good big sister she will be.
Wednesday, February 16th, 2011 - Day One
11:59 pm
Last post of the night... Leah has been nursing and sucking on a pacifier for over two hours. We decided that she is hungry and not getting enough from Jamie. We had nurse Linda bring us some organic Similac formula. Daddy was able to help out and feed her almost the entire 2oz bottle. She is now sleeping soundly with a full little belly. Good night everyone!
10:11 pm
What a long day. Baby Leah is now over 36 hours old and doing great. It's pretty amazing how much more the nurses let us take care of her without interruption. There has been more checkups today for Jamie to make sure she is recovering ok than Leah's progression. We had some visitors today after Grandma and Ellie left. All of the cousins came by to see the newest member of the family. Pictures are updated, but remember the 10 most recent show on the left picture bar. Don't forget you can look at all the pictures by going to
grid view.
1:33 pm
Big sister Ellie and Grandma Aurelia got here around 12:30 today. Ellie was able to hold Leah and she brought her a pretty lamb. Leah gave her big sister 2 presents back as well. Everyone is so happy.
11:02 am
Done with breakfast and Leah is just napping on my lap right now. New pictures from last night and this morning added to the left. I also added a date filter above, just click [Show] or [Hide] to see all the posts from the 15th, Leah's Birthday.
6:43 am
Baby Leah slept very well throughout her first night. A few diaper changes and overnight feedings and as I type a few little toots with her sleeping on my chest. Speaking of Mom and Dad are doing great trying to catch up on some shut eye while we can. More pictures and updates in a little bit.
Tuesday, February 15th, 2011 - Leah's Birthday
11:55 pm
After multiple successful feedings, passed hearing test and all kinds of sweetness from Leah. Mom and Dad are signing off for the night for some well needed shut eye. More pictures are posted in order of occurrence to the left and also in
grid view
9:03 pm
Leah has been sleeping for the past 3 hours. We have had all grandparents stop by, Jamie's Aunt Jane and cousin Kasie too. Ellie came by with Jamie's parents and sister Jess. When she first saw Leah she was hesitant but then held her baby sister and was very excited. Ellie asked "is Leah coming home with us"? Not tonight sweetheart but very soon we will all be home.
4:15 pm
She is an hour and a half old. Measurements are 19 1/2 inches long, 6 Pound 10 Ounces, 13 1/2 inch head
3:16 pm
Official measurement and weight coming up soon. She latched on and is feeding like a champ already.
2:58 pm
First and second pictures are up. Leah is beautiful and healthy and quiet... for now.
2:45 pm
Congratulations Big Sister Elliot! See you soon, we love you Mommy, Daddy and Leah
2:38 pm
Please welcome to the world Leah Paige. Pictures very soon.
2:30 pm
3 contraction pushes in and her head is starting to show. Dark hair just like her daddy.
2:24 pm
Push number 1... whew that wasn't that bad
2:18 pm
It's almost time. Doctor Blake will be here shortly and the pushing will begin.
1:34 pm
Fully dilated and ready to go. Nurse said we will let Jamie labor down and probably within an hour start to push.
1:10 pm
Just so everyone knows... the picture says Oxytocin not Oxycontin. I can bring the leftover bag home but all it will do is induce labor, men or women.
12:51 pm
We are both feeling the 3 am wake up call... contractions are coming more frequent and cyclical
12:13 pm
Jamie is now dilated to 6cm and resting comfortably.
11:56 am
In case you didn't see above, you can view all the pictures in a
grid format here. Also, grandma Lori stopped by to see how everyone is doing.
11:31 am
Almost on the dot... Lori came in to roll Jamie on her side :)
11:02 am
Turned up the Pitocin to aide in progression. Jamie feels good but very tired. She is having trouble sleeping because every thirty minutes the nurses are back to move/change/poke/adjust something. 11:30 is the next checkpoint, then it's time to roll on her side for a bit.
10:23 am
Pitocin started with a "liquid sweet tart" chaser. The nurses gave Jamie a medicine for heartburn.
10:14 am
The contractions are spaced out and not really progressing much. The doctors/nurses said they are thinking of starting Pitocin to get the contractions moving.
9:24 am
30 minutes into Epidural time... calm and relaxed. Dilated to a 3 or 4 and fully effaced. Jamie says "it's nap time"
9:11 am
A quick shout out to Mrs. Bennetts class watching the baby tracker
8:48 - 8:54 am
Epidural started and fully set. Jamie finally starting to feel good now. I learned from last time and sat down while they put the needle in. Time to relax now.
8:20 am
Dr. Blake was here and did a checkup. She will be delivering later today, Jamie is excited. Turned up the IV and soon after will be the Epidural. Jamie is in a little pain.
7:42 am
Doctor Seyda is here taking some basic checkups with some questions. Seems to be going fine. Our new nurses Linda and Lori are here for shift change as well.
7:01 am
Maureen's call to the help desk got the wifi working. Posting can commence!
6:55 am
Big contraction lasting about 40 seconds
6:32 am
Breakfast... Ice chips with a little bit of orange/cranberry juice cocktail
6:26 am
New IV bag started, lab results back, everything looks fine
6:13 am
An "off the chart" contraction says Jamie
5:55 am
Jamie playing an intense game of word search on the iPod to pass the time
5:48 am
Contractions are regular and constant, Jamie is looking forward to the Epidural. Pain rating at this time is measuring at a self assessed 5 out of 10
5:30 am
All the blood work checked out ok and the first IV started in preparation for the Epidural
5:15 am
After all the paperwork and questions are done Jamie has her blood drawn and cringes at the needle poke
4:15 am
Checked in and heading to our Delivery room 2 with our nurse Maureen
3:29 am
Left home heading for the hospital. We are tired but awake
